Simba confirm Miquissone steps away from completing Al Ahly move

Africa-PressTanzania. SIMBA vice-president Mulamu Ng’hambi confirmed the rumors about Luis Miquissone joining Al Ahly and claimed that the deal is in fact nearly done and it’s at its final stages.

Miquissone has been linked with Al Ahly for several months now, mainly after his performance in the CAF Champions League, where he netted a winner against the African champions in the group stages.

With the Reds looking to strengthen their attacking options this season, it appears that they have identified Miquissone as one of their main targets.

Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane knows Miquissone quite well as he previously coached him at Mamelodi Sundowns. In a statement, Simba SC vice president spoke about Miquissone’s situation and how accurate are the circulating rumors.

“Miquissone is in fact close to Al Ahly, the Egyptian club talked to him to discuss the potential move,” Malmo said. “The deal is 90 per cent done; I think the announcement could happen by the 15th of August.

“Miquissone is going to be a key player for Al Ahly, he has what Al Ahly need from a forward.” Malmo then gave his take on the African Super League project: “The Super League is a promising project; it could increase the competition between African clubs. It can also be a great new source of income to all parties involved.”

Last week it was confirmed that the Cairo giants reached in an agreement with Simba in an offer of 900,000 US dollars equivalent to 2 billion/-.

Miquissone expects to sign a four-year deal with CAF Champions League record titleholders, the contract that ends in 2025.

The Mozambique winger was among the top stars contributing to more win to the club in the Mainland Premier League for 2020/21 season. He scored nine goals and made ten assists.

Despite doing well in the Premier League, Miquissone also did well in the Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) 2020/21 semi-finals, where he scored Simba’s only goal against Azam.

In that competition, Miquissone scored two goals. Miquissone was also linked to Kaizer Chiefs for several months now, mainly after his performance in the CAF Champions League, where he astounded the Cairo giants as he scored against them and commanded Group A.

Miquissone will therefore meet again with Al Ahly head coach Pitso Mosimane who briefly coached him at Mamelodi Sundowns.

As the Msimbazi-streets are eagerly waiting for the big deal to complete, they have completed the signing of the Malawian midfielder Peter Banda from Nyasa Big Bullets FC in a three year deal and Yusuph Mhilu from Kagera Sugar.
