Africa-PressTanzania. TRADERS have been advised to register their businesses to ensure they pay taxes that will help to contribute to the country’s development growth.

The remarks were made by Dar es Salaam Regional Commissioner, Amos Makalla during the new tax payer registration campaign held recently in the city.

He said the campaign is in line with the government’s directive which urged the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) to expand its tax collection scope.

RC Makalla further advised traders to come out in large numbers to register their businesses that will help to boost economic growth in the nation.

“Through the campaign traders you should keep your business records that will help TRA in estimation and collection of taxes and also to provide receipt to the customers,” he said.

TRA Internal Tax Commissioner, Hubert Kabyemela said the campaign will expand the scope of new tax payers countrywide, that will enable them to increase the revenue generated from tax collection.

He said the campaign aims to identify the contribution of registered traders and taxpayers in the country.
