Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA Premier League Board (TPLB) said they expect to release the 2021/22 Premier League fixture on Wednesday next week.
Normal matches of the top flight league are scheduled to begin unfolding on September 29th after the Community Shield match pegged on September 25th between champions Simba against Young Africans.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam recently, TPLB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Almas Kasongo said all necessary procedures prior to unveiling the fixture have been completed.
He also mentioned that the upcoming fixture has forecasted that the country’s envoys in Champions League and Confederations Cup tournaments will reach into the finals in order to make it comfortable.
“The fixture is everything because it gives competing teams guidelines on how they should undertake their preparations and even club leaders get a chance to plan well about sending the team from one place to another.
“According to our calendar, we have assumed that all our teams in the Champions League and Confederation Cup will reach in the finals since you cannot create a fixture and predict that the teams will be eliminated in the first round.
“From our published season plan, you can see that the finals of the champions league will be played on 21 May next year that is why the top flight league’s last round matches will be played on May 30th,” Kasongo said.
He also pointed out that the process to receive opinions from different sport stakeholders to be used for upgrading various guidelines in running football went well and that only Yanga managed to submit their opinions.
Clarifying on the number of foreign based players to be signed by one team, Kasongo narrated that their principle requires 10 players but he insisted that if there will be a need to make changes, they will follow right procedures to achieve that.
However, in his past interview, Kasongo disclosed that in the upcoming season, there will not be games in hand made by teams which will represent the country in CAF games since the league will be temporarily suspended whenever the envoys will be flying high national colours.
“Our target is to have a zero game in hand fixture that is why whenever our teams will be fulfilling their CAF encounters, we will be compelled to pause the league,” Kasongo said.
He added that last season, to a big extent, participation of Simba and Namungo in Champions League and Confederation Cup respectively was the main reason behind the prevalence of unequal fixture in terms of played games.
“As such, we will make sure that in every round, all teams have played equal games before stepping into the next round and we believe that this will be a long lasting solution to eradicate match in hand problems,” he said.
