Africa-Press – Tanzania. SOMBRE mood engulfed St Peter’s Catholic Church in Dar es Salaam as Vice-President Dr Philip Mpango yesterday led mourners to pay their last respects to the Assistant Parish Priest, Father Paul Haule, who died on Wednesday last week.
Hundreds of mourners turned up at the church premises to bid farewell to a man who also served as Director of Tumaini Media, owned by the Roman Catholic Church Archdiocese of Dar es Salaam. Mourners filled the church to its capacity.
Mama Mbonimpawe Mpango- Dr Mpango’s wife, was among the mourners. Delivering government condolences on behalf of President Samia Suluhu Hassan, Dr Mpango described the late Father Haule as a man who loved to preach peace and was always gentle and humble.
He said the Church has lost a priest who was always patient. The VP urged the congregation to continue praying for the late Father Haule to rest in peace.
In another development, Dr Mpango has called on religious leaders to continue to take precautions against the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Vice-President urged the congregation to protect religious leaders from the disease, especially when they meet to get various services from those leaders.
He called upon religious leaders and believers to wear face mask whenever they are in worship and in the various activities that take place, especially for the sick.
Father Haule passed away on August 18th this year at 10.30 pm, while receiving treatment at Cardinal Rugambwa Hospital in Ukonga ward, Ilala district in Dar es Salaam.
