Africa-Press – Tanzania. IT was a good start for Ankit Baghel of Tembo Stars after he picked four wickets that helped his team beat Twiga Titans in the Advanced Players League cricket game at Gymkhana oval in Dar es Salaam yesterday.
Tembo Stars won the toss and elected to field, giving Twiga Titans a chance to bat first. Twiga Titans marched confidently to leave the oval with victory with hefty 108 runs in 20 overs.
But the score was easily beaten by Tembo Stars, who chased the score with 109 runs in 19 of allocated 20 overs. Thus, the victory for Tembo Stars has been a good start as they have pocketed two points and an average of 0.34 net run rate.
Apart from the quality that Baghel showed in the game, other Tembo Stars players were also in their prime.
Among those players was Rizik Kiseto, who picked a wicket and 23 runs from 23 balls. The other was Mohamed Omary, who scored 32 runs from 46 balls.
Along with the quality of Tembo Stars and their player Baghel played brilliantly and was named as the star of the opening game, Twiga Titans also provided entertainment through Gokul Das who was the mainstay of the entertainment after scoring 30 runs from 29 balls.
Abhik Patwa also showed diligence with his team even though they lost; he collected 32 runs from 35 balls. It was highly entertaining game, and the people who gathered were delighted with the skill displayed by players of both sides.
The tournament features six combined teams that battle it out in an exciting T-20 format, where its climax is scheduled to be on the 5th of next month. The six combined teams involved are Buffalo Blasters, Chui Challengers, Simba Kings, Tembo Stars, Royal Rhinos, and the reigning champions, Twiga Titans.
Where after the opening game, cricket fans will witness three thrilling games today.
The first one will be between Tembo Stars and Simba Kings; then Buffalo Blasters will face Chui Challengers, while tomorrow’s last encounter will see Twiga Titans playing Royal Rhino at the same venue.
