Africa-Press – Tanzania. AFTER stamping a vital away 1-0 win against FC Dikhil of Djibouti on Friday, Biashara United coach Patrick Odhiambo said he was convinced to win by a big margin during the return leg in Dar es Salaam next week.
It was a perfect start for the Mara-based outfits in the ongoing CAF Confederation Cup campaign even though they are making their maiden appearance in the contest.
Nicknamed ‘Border Soldiers’, Biashara were on front pedal throughout the tense match despite descending at the battlefield in the morning of the same day which made many people to doubt about stamping good results.
But, that was not the case as the solitary goal netted by Denis Nkane was enough to seal the business on the day prior to the second leg encounter at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in the city.
“It was a good match and we played with caution since we arrived late as such, we had to embrace economy play that is why we were a little bit slow in making decisions,” Odhiambo said.
He also disclosed that they deliberately implored low pressing tactic because he did not want his side to use extra energy which could have rendered them to get tired easily.
“We want to be sharp in the reverse match because today (Friday), we created many scoring chances but could not use them well that is the area we will work at before the next encounter,” he said.
His captain Lenny Kisu said it was not an easy game as their opponents also prepared to use well their home ground advantage.
“Our game plan was to let them play but when they step into our territory, we should mark them something which worked better for us. I know we committed some mistakes which will be corrected before the next game,” he narrated.
Also, the skipper expressed his belief that in the upcoming match against the Djibouti side, they will play with much focus to win in order to cement their chances of progressing deeper into the competition.
On his part, goalscorer Nkane hailed his team’s technical bench for keeping their trust in him to play in the big competition of which he said is the dream to many young footballers.
“When I came on as a substitute, I already knew how to edge past their defence and that worked well for me. I am grateful to score the winning goal,” he said.
