Africa-Press – Tanzania. YOUNG Africans have announced that a contingent of at least 100 people will accompany the team ahead of their CAF Champions League second leg match versus Rivers United in Nigeria on Sunday.
This was disclosed on Wednesday by the club’s Information Officer Hassan Bumbuli who said the team will depart on Friday (tomorrow) using a direct flight to Nigeria ready for the crucial decisive match.
“As management, we are finalising logistic procedures of the team and others who will travel with the squad to make sure that everything is in place. An advanced team of leaders is already in Nigeria preparing to receive the squad,” he said.
Adding, Bumbuli narrated that so far, no injuries have been reported among the travelling players while insisting that striker Heritier Makambo who picked an injury in the first game is progressing well.
Commenting on how preparations are unfolding, Bumbuli said the technical bench is busy correcting mistakes which surfaced during the previous duel and rendered them to suffer a defeat.
He also seized the platform to urge Yanga family to ignore speculations that Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi has been given a maximum of two matches to impress or else face sacking.
“Those are just mere speculations which are being made to make us lose focus of our important match coming up. The coach continue to discharge his normal duties and we should remain united since we just lost the match and not the competition,” said him.
Going into the match, Yanga have a big task to manage after losing the first leg encounter 1-0 at an empty Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam last Sunday.
The outcome was a big blow to them especially after going down at their own territory where many people expected them to produce the big win in order to simplify the return fixture.
However, the country’s envoys remain adamant to turn things around in Nigeria and progress into the first round of the biggest football club showpiece on the continent.
After the Nigeria mission, Yanga will return to Dar es Salaam to face their traditional rivals, Simba in a Community Shield encounter on September 25th at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Thereafter, they will travel to face-off Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium in Kagera for their opening league match of the season before hosting debutants Geita Gold at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on October 2nd.
