Africa-Press – Tanzania. SGA Security, one of the big security companies in Tanzania, has expressed its continued to support sports in the country and this time they are backing NMB Charity marathon.
Speaking in Dar es Salaam, the firm’s Managing Director, Eric Sambu said the company is heading to back the NMB Marathon 2021 this Sunday to help them raise funds for women with fistula being treated at CCBRT Hospital.
“SGA believes sports go a long way in forming a healthy society and basis for national development,” he said.
He said that SGA supports the NMB Marathon 2021 as part of their CSR programme, adding that the company has set at least one percent of their turnover to societal causes.
Additionally, he said SGA Security also sponsored the Tanzanite Women Sports Festival 2021 held at the National Stadium in Dar es Salaam, in an event that brought together over 5,000 sports women in the country.
The event was organised by the Ministry of Sports and Culture to foster women sports, as directed by President Samia Suluhu Hassan. SGA provided security throughout the event and emergency services, with ambulances, rapid response vehicles and fire engines. Sambu explained that SGA will next month sponsor the NBC Capital City Marathon in Dodoma, which will be in the second year running.
He also noted that the security firm is also the sponsor of the Great African Cycling event. The cycling event that traverses four EAC member states began in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania on August 1, 2021, then crossed to Kenya via Tanga, heading to Mombasa, Nairobi, Kampala, Kigali, Bujumbura and Dodoma.
The event is set to cover 6,000 kilometres and takes 55 days, with the penultimate stage being the EAC headquarters in Arusha, on September 25, 2021. SGA seeks to align with event’s theme of having one EAC, bridging the trade barriers and bring East Africans together to live harmoniously as one people with one destiny.
On football, he said SGA Security also supports grass root academies with provision of sports kits, safety and health tips. It sponsors Magnet Youth Sports Organisation, the academy that is producing youngsters that are undergoing trials in European academies now.
Among them include Barka Seif, who was in Ajax Amsterdam, while others are at Celta Vigo in Spain and Leicester City in England.

He explained that these partnerships are part of the leading security firm’s celebration of their 50th anniversary of their operations in East Africa.
