Africa-PressTanzania. TANZANIAN Ladies open their FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup campaign against Eritrea this weekend on September 25th, according to the fixture released by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

Does Tanzania qualify the U-20 Ladies will play in the finals to be held in Costa Rica in 2022.

Tanzania qualified to the second round on walkover while Eritrea kicked out Djibout in the first round.

The return leg will be staged in Dar es Salaam on October 9 this year.

Other matches to be held this week include that between Mozambique and South Africa to be held at Matola in Maputo today.

In Kigali, Rwanda will host Ethiopia while in Lusaka, Zambia will host Malawi in the afternoon.

In Ngozi, Burundi are pitted against Namibia while in Bakau, Gambia will play Burkina Faso on Saturday.

Also to be staged tomorrow is a match between Benin and Morocco to be staged in Porto-Novo.

Bamako is the venue of a match between Mali and Senegal while in Luanda Angola will lock horns with Botswana at 14h30.

In Cairo, Egypt will invite Congo Brazzaville as the Kenyan capital, Nairobi will be staging an East African derby pitting hosts Kenya againstg neighbours Uganda.

In Mumias, Kenya, Guinea will invite Sierra Leone as in Libreville, Gabon will be hosting Guinea-Bissau.

DR Congo will play Cameroon in a match to be held in Lubumbashi as Doula will host a match between Central African Republic and Nigeria.

After staging the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup in 2014, Costa Rica will once again welcome the best teams in the world – this time for the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup 2022. The tournament, which was originally planned for 2020 and intended to have Panama as co-hosts, had to be postponed due to the COVID pandemic. Costa Rica were then named sole hosts of this rescheduled global showpiece, which will run from 10 to 28 August 2022.

Nurturing the brightest talents in international Women’s football, the FIFA U-20 takes place biennially.

U-20 Women’s World Cup will see 16 nations compete against each other for the prize.

With continental qualification pathways leading to an exciting finals event, the competition has seen four past champions; USA, Germany, Japan and Korea DPR.
