Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA Breweries Limited (TBL) have launched a Covid -19 vaccination centre aimed at drawing services to its employees and surrounding areas in a bid to reduce the spread of the disease.
TBL Human Resource Manager, Ms Rabina Masanja said the measure would curb further spread of the disease and ensure their staff remain healthy and safe at workplace.
“This exercise will be sustainable in all TBL offices located in Mbeya, Mwanza and Arusha,” she said during a ceremony to launch the campaign at the brewer’s Ilala based office.
She said TBL will continue to join the government’s efforts in combating the disease that has no boundary.
On his part, Vaccine Coordinator from Chief Medical Officer at Ubungo Municipality, Mr Boniface Katikilo, advised the employees as well as other citizens to volunteer for the immunization that is provided free of charge.
He said that its safe and no one should fear, especially those in the frontline as health care workers, people with chronic diseases as well as adults aged 50 years and above. Mr Katikilo noted that since the immunization was launched 59 days ago in the country, more than 400,000 people have received the jab.
The government has been emphasizing on the need for ‘wananchi’ to continue taking measures to curb further spread of Covid-19 pandemic, even after taking the vaccines citing the precautions as frequent hand washing, social distancing, and masking, sanitizing and avoiding unnecessary gatherings.
However, he expressed confidence in the safety of vaccines and called upon TBL staff as well as the general public to turn out in large numbers to receive the vaccines.
Currently, the country is rolling out the Johnson & Johnson vaccine donated by the United States through the Covax arrangement.
According to the Ministry for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children, has so far approved five vaccines to be used in the country, naming them as Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Moderna, Sinopharm and Sinovac.
