Africa-PressTanzania. YOUNG Africans Head Coach Nasreddine Nabi has pledged to work on the team’s failure to use well many scoring opportunities which they get during competitive matches.

Yanga snatched a slim 1-0 win against debutants Geita Gold at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam over the weekend to maintain their 100 per cent start of the season.

Democratic Republic of Congo’s import Jesus Moloko opened his goal account at the club thanks to his 16th minute strike which gave Yanga three points in their second game of the campaign.

The outcome saw Yanga reaching six points from two encounters after producing another slim 1-0 victory away in their Premier League against Kagera Sugar at Kaitaba Stadium in Bukoba on Wednesday.

At a post- match briefing, Nabi conceded that his side is able to create many scoring chances but they find it hard to turn them into goals a thing he vowed to work on.

“As you know, the league has just started hence we will be correcting some mistakes when the games unfold but what I can assure you is that things will be much better soon,” he said.

He added that the issue of fitness levels among his players in the two played league matches was as a result of back to back fixtures.

“When we played against Simba in the Community Shield match, the fitness levels of my players was the same throughout the game because we had ample time to prepare for it.

“But, in the recent two top flight league matches, preparation time was very limited since we travelled to Kagera where we played at a difficult venue and we just came back few days ago before playing this match.

“In such instances, you cannot expect the same level of performance from players but during the international FIFA break, we are going to work hard on how to promote our stamina levels to sustain throughout the 90 minutes of play,” Nabi pledged.

On his part, Geita Gold Assistant Coach Fred Felix Minziro explained that his players lacked concentration otherwise; the story could have been different after the game.

“We need to correct our mistakes ahead of upcoming matches by ensuring that players use their brains whenever they are near or inside the box in order to avoid misusing great scoring chances,” he said.

He then congratulated his charges for the massive second half football display which he said was much better comparing with the opening 45 minutes while admitting that they played under pressure after conceding the goal.

It has been a poor start for Geita Gold who are win-less in their two opening matches as they lost 2-0 to Namungo before going down 1-0 to Yanga but they still have enough games to turn things around and enjoy the league ride.
