Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan on Sunday noted the forthcoming major road projects to link the capital city Dodoma with other regions, with most of the major roads set for expansions.
Many roads she said would be expanded, for example the Dodoma-Singida one, Dodoma-Iringa and Dodoma-Dar es Salaam would all be expanded to four lanes from existing two lanes.
She further said that the government had equally initiated other projects for the construction of wider roads in Dodoma. She said the government was constructing the outer ring road in the country’s capital.
According to her, another project for Kimara-Kibaha eight-lane project in Dar es Salaam was smoothly being implemented and that it was at the final stage of completion.
Elaborating, she said through the Tanzania Rural and Urban Road Agency (TARURA), about 216.4bn/- had been spent to repair roads countrywide, which had been affected by rains.
The Head of State further expressed her commitment to continue implementing the construction of Msalato Airport in the country’s capital, Dodoma and other airports countrywide.
She said that last month the government had signed the contract for the project and apart from that, the government is continuing with the projects for expansion and construction of other airports countrywide including Mtwara, Songea and Iringa airports.
Other projects include the Julius Nyerere Hydropower Project (JNHPP), which she said its construction was now at 56 per cent, adding that between April and August this year, about 696.7bn/- had been disbursed to finance the project.
Also she said all the three aircrafts that the government had procured are already in the country to make the number of total aircrafts at 11.
The Head of State further said the government was has procured five more new air- crafts which will include one Dreamliner, two Boeing, one Bombardier and another special aircraft for carrying cargo.
President Samia said a total of 596.3bn/- has already been has been spent for the same purpose.
