Africa-Press – Tanzania. YOUNG Africans have apologised to their fans for shifting their fourth round Premier League match against Azam from Arusha to Dar es Salaam, contrary to the earlier fixture.
Earlier the match was scheduled to be staged at Sheikh Amri Abeid stadium in Arusha.
A few days ago, Yanga announced that they have written to the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) requesting their Azam match to be played in Arusha as one way to get closer to their fans in the region.
Initially, according to the 2021/22 fixture released by the Tanzania Premier League Board (TPLB), the game between Yanga and Azam which is the second biggest derby in the country was set at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium hence the former opted to shift it to Arusha.
But on Friday evening, a statement issued by the club’s Department of Information and Communication declared that they have dragged back the tense encounter to Benjamin Mkapa venue on October 30th.
The statement then apologised to their supporters for inconveniences which might have been caused as a result of the changes.
Meanwhile, Yanga are expected to leave today ahead of their away match against KMC at Majimaji Stadium in Songea, Ruvuma on Tuesday. It will be their season’s third round clash for the two sides with each side seeking three points.
Speaking on Saturday in the city, Yanga skipper Bakari Mwamnyeto said they have had ample preparations to do a recommendable job on the day and return back with vital three points in the bag.
“Even though we have a brief period to prepare together, I believe that everything will go well and each game to us is a final,” said Mwamnyeto who missed two of his side’s opening matches of the season due to injury.
His colleague Fiston Mayele said they are aware that the game will be tough but he insisted that in all their follow-up league fixtures, they will be fighting to take all three points.
On her side, KMC Information Officer Christina Mwagala pointed out that after a poor start of the campaign, they are now ready to begin the league with a victory on Tuesday.
“Preparations for the big game are going on well and morale among players and technical bench members is high in order to do well and grab all three points,” she said
