Africa-Press – Tanzania. VICE-PRESIDENT Dr Philip Mpango said the government values the contribution of retired leaders and it will continue to use their wisdom and advice in national development endeavours.
Dr Mpango made the statement yesterday when he paid a courtesy call to former Prime Minister Cleopa Msuya.
The Vice-President visited Mzee Msuya at his home at Upanga in Dar es Salaam to greet the long-served leader and acquire the wisdom from the retired leader, who served the country during the firstphase government under Julius Nyerere and later the second phase government under President Ali Hassan Mwinyi.
Dr Mpango praised the retired Prime Minister for his huge contribution in building the nation when serving different portfolios. On his part, Mzee Msuya commended the government under President Samia Suluhu Hassan for continuing to implement strategic projects initiated during the fifth phase government.
Mzee Msuya said it was important that those projects are completed as planned in order to bring quick development to citizens. Msuya further said it was crucial for the government and the ruling party to closely cooperate in bringing development to the Tanzanians including addressing various challenges facing them.
“The government has to continue daring in introducing and implementing productive projects for the nation,” he advised.
He also suggested that the government could consider introducing telephone communication through which citizens can directly present their challenges to the President’s Office or Vice-President’s Office. On the other hand he thanked the government for continuing servicing well retired leaders, especially on providing them different treatment services within and outside the country.
