Africa-Press – Tanzania. ITALIAN Embassy in Tanzania has celebrated World Week of the Italian Language as well as commemorating the 700th anniversary of the death of Dante Alighieri, a ‘father of the Italian language’.
The World Week of the Italian Language event aims at promoting the cultural and diplomatic network every year in the third week of October.
A statement released on Tuesday, stated that Italia’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Marco Lombardi hosted a meeting focused on the status language in the country Tanzania and was attended by relevant stakeholders, including Vice Secretary General of Dante Alighieri Society, Dr Andrea Vincenzoni and Neema Nyerere.
Equally, Italian embassy in collaboration with the Switzerland Embassy in Tanzania published articles in Tanzanian newspapers on Dante Alighieri.
Italian Embassy also thanks QR code technology for allowing readers to download on their devices in English and Kiswahiili versions of “Divina Commedia”.
Participants were agreed on the need of assisting Tanzanians working in tourism industry on the need of learning Italian language as well as stressing the importance of helping young Italians to learn local languages in Tanzania.
