Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA Premier League Board (TPLB) has insisted on the clubs trading in the NBC Premier League to always put on jerseys with original logo of the league’s title sponsor.
This was said recently in Dar es Salaam by the board’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Almasi Kasongo saying those teams which will fail to adhere to this will be fined or relegated.
“The issue of teams putting on original logos of the title sponsor is contained in the regulations of running the league as such, any team which will go against this will face full weight of the law,” Kasongo said.
He added that in the past four rounds of the unfolding campaign, some teams put on the original logos while others did not hence those which did not respect the law will be penalised according to the available laws.
He continued: “Henceforth, any team which will not wear original logo of the sponsor will be fined 3m/- per match and if they fail to change, other stern action including being relegated or be banned from competing in the league will be applied.” He added that as CEO of the TPLB, one of his responsibilities is to ensure that clubs, leaders, players and fans are complying with the set up regulations in order to spearhead efficiency.
The ongoing league season is slowly gathering momentum with all competing teams working hard on the pitch throughout the 90 minutes of play to generate positive results.
With 16 teams on board, it means a total of 240 games will be played in 30 rounds and after that, the new NBC Premier League champions will be declared for the 2021/22 campaign.
So far, the season has already witnessed two coaches going separate ways with their clubs for allegedly unconvincing results stamped by their former teams in the early stages of the contest.
The first coach to face the exit door was Etienne Ndayiragije who was at the helm of Geita Gold but only managed to take charge of four matches before he was sent packing.
The second trainer to departure prematurely was Didier Gomes for Simba who just guided two premier league matches and a twolegged Champions League encounter versus Jwaneng Galaxy before quitting the job.
