Africa-Press – Tanzania. Attorney General Dk. Eliezer Feleshi swore his oath of office on Tuesday before the National Assembly Speaker Job Ndugai.
He becomes the 10th Attorney General. Feleshi was appointed in September by President Samia Suluhu Hassan to fill the vacancy left by Professor Adelardus Kilangi who was appointed ambassador.
Feleshi was sworn in along with two other Members of Parliament (MPs), Emmanuel Cherehani (CCM) and Mohammed Said Issa (ACT-Wazalendo) who won the recently held by-elections in Ushetu and Konde constituencies respectively.
“I will be loyal to the United Republic of Tanzania and serve it with all my heart. I will protect and defend the constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania in accordance with the law,” Feleshi pleaded as he took the oath.
The National Assembly Speaker announced to the parliamentarians the death of Ngorongoro Member of Parliament and Deputy Minister for Investment William Ole Nasha. Ole Nasha died on September 27 and he was put to rest on November 2.
His announcement on Monday was a matter of formality given that it is the first seating of MPs since the demise of their colleague lawmaker.
