Africa-Press – Tanzania. President Samia Suluhu Hassan has advised political leaders to follow the footsteps of the late Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad who preferred reconciliation in times of misunderstanding.
The Head of State gave the advise during the opening of Maalim Seif Sharif Hamad’s lifetime memorial event held at Golden Tulip Hotel in Zanzibar on Friday.
The Head of State said the iconic politician’s stance on reconciliation was a pillar of peace and unity in the country during the 2020 General Election.
“It was the late Maalim Seif who again participated and brought about reconciliation after the 2020 General Elections. It was his willingness that enabled Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) party and the Alliance for Change and Transparency (ACT Wazalendo) party to form the Government National Unity (GNU) to become the First Vice President,” President Samia said.
Equally, President Samia said that the late Maalim Seif was a leader who always put the interest of the country ahead of anything despite the political differences.
Meanwhile, Zanzibar President Hussein Ali Mwinyi the gone politician will always be remembered for his words of wisdom, humility and his devotion in maintaining country’s peace and unity.
“During the period that I worked with him, I was able to learn and reap many good things from him, things that aimed at maintaining and strengthening solidarity, harmony and development of our country as a whole” President Mwinyi said
