PM consoles Stars after loss

Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has consoled Taifa Stars players and the technical bench, following their hefty loss to the Democratic Republic of Congo at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium on Thursday.

Winding up 12th Parliamentary session in Dodoma on Friday, Majaliwa told TFF and Taifa Stars technical bench to assess the weakness so as to find means that will enable the team to improve in the future tournaments.

He said the loss should be a wake-up call to Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) and technical bench since after reviewing the team’s performance, it will tell where Taifa Stars went wrong so as to find means that will enable the team to have superior performance in future.

The Premier also commended women football national team, Twiga Stars for winning COSAFA Cup in South Africa and Asha Bilal who was nominated the tournament’s best player.

“TFF and Taifa Stars technical bench should use the loss to DRC as a lesson and do a serious review of what went wrong in order to raise the team’s performance after the end of Qatar World Cup race. It may be the end of our campaign for Qatar World Cup qualification, but it is not over as we will have other chances to participate in other tournaments in future, so they should not be disappointed,” he said.

Majaliwa also lauded Twiga Stars for winning the COSAFA Cup in South Africa and Amina Bilal who was nominated the tournament’s best player.

He expressed his gratitude to President Samia Suluhu Hassan who gave players and officials plots of land to build their own houses in Dodoma.

He also hailed the achievements in arts and music events at the highly successful arts festival in Bagamoyo.
