Africa-Press – Tanzania. ITALY Ambassador to Tanzania Mr Marco Lombardi has expressed readiness to convince investors from his country to utilise available investments and business opportunities in Tanzania.
He said the efforts are aimed at cementing diplomatic ties through economic activities in both countries.
The envoy said that tourism and recreational sectors are the areas mostly attracting Italian business groups to invest their capitals in Tanzania, noting that it is the reason behind the embassy’s decision to put in more energy in bringing Italian chefs on a training and learning tour on ways of preparing Italian cuisines.
“Today we are launching an Italian cuisine week which will include gala dinners and food showcases in different hotels in Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam. We believe that food is culture. It brings people together when they discuss deals and get to know each other and explore and forge business linkages,” he said.
The envoy who was speaking before the invited guests and members of the press said that some Italians have invested in hotels in Zanzibar, where according to him, there is more hope for more investors from his country to choose Tanzania as an investment destination.
On strengthening the ties between the two countries, the envoy highlighted that Italy and Tanzania had unique similarities. .
“To start with, Italian chefs will from today join their Tanzanian counterparts in preparing foods which will be showcased in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar hotels and everyone is welcomed to take part and share experience.”
Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism Mary Masanja graced the event, saying Tanzania was eying for more investment in the tourism sector from Italy and other nations.
The deputy minister said that tourism was an important sector for the country’s economy.
