POLISI Zanzibar laboured to defeat Jang’ombe Boys 1-0 in their Isles Premier League match held here over the weekend.

The slim win, was very rewarding to Polisi as it earned them 17 points which moved them one place from 13th to 12th in the league standings.

KMKM who have already pocketed 34 points are still occupying the pilot seat, a situation that puts them in a good position to defend their league title.

Prior to the encounter Polisi were very close to the danger zone and looked likely to face relegation.

The team started the game cautiously while planning their raids carefully to avoid counter attacks.

Still no team managed to open a goal account until the end of the first half. But Polisi had to wait until the 80th minute to score the winner through Abdallah Mwalimu.

After KMKM with 34 points, JKU are second with the same number of points, but inferior goal average places them under KMKM.

The place is occupied by Mlandege who have stamped 32 points.

Meanwhile Black Sailors continued to command authority in the Isles First League after beating Bweleo 2-0 over the weekend in the game staged at Mao Tse Dong stadium in Unguja.

The victory has placed the Sailors at the top of the league table after hauling 31 points.

Black Sailor scored their goals through Ali Juma Amour in the 72nd and Abdulrazak Omar Mohammed two minutes later.

In another FDL match at the same venue, Mchangani FC clobbered Dula Boys 4-1.
