Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has been named in the world’s 100 most powerful women by Forbes.

The 2021 annual power list as compiled by Forbes include a dynamic lineup of influential women, who command global influence.

The Head of State ranks the 94th with billionaire, Mckenzie Scott – the world third richest woman taking the top slot. US Vice President Kamala Harris is number 2 , swapping places with Christine Largade, the President of the European Central Bank who is ranked third. Samia has been hailed for her transformation ever since she took power as Tanzania’s President.

“This is especially, for being instrumental in implementing Covid-19 protocols in her country,” read as parts of her credits on the Forbes. Samia became Tanzania’s sixth president and first-ever female leader in March 2021, following the death of President John Magufuli.

She rose to the position from vice-president, a role to which she was first elected in 2015.

In September, she became just the fifth-ever female African leader to address the UN General Assembly.

Elaborating, she took the forum to criticize Covid-19 vaccines’ inequality.

Samia has differentiated her leadership from her predecessor by implementing stricter Covid-19 protocols, including mandatory quarantines for travelers coming from countries with new variants.
