Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan is expected to officiate the opening of the 16th meeting of secondary schools head teachers on Wednesday in Dar es Salaam.

Secretary General of the Tanzania Heads of Secondary Schools Association (TAHOSSA), Titus Jumanne, said the meeting will be held at Mlimani City hall and will attract over 5,000 teachers.

He said the 16th meeting will bring to gather the heads of schools to exchange ideas, experiences, successes, challenges and how they can implement different government policies and directives. He said during the meeting there would be prizes giving to schools, teachers and students who did well in academic performances.

He said the meeting will discuss different achievements made by the six phase government under the Preside Samia including construction of thousands of new classrooms all over the country.

The TAHOSSA Secretary General commended the six phase government for availing billions of money to build girls secondary schools in ten region of Tanzania Mainland.

He said the six phase government under President Samia did tremendous job to ensure that the academic performances from primary to secondary school rises and many students are enrolled from primary to secondary schools.

“This is right time to celebrate achievements we have made in education. To commemorate the 60th years of Independence our President is expected to meet head teachers from across the country and speak to them over her vision in education,” said Jumanne.

He added: “this meeting is great opportunity to head teachers to sit together and discuss their issues and how to tackle their challenges as a move to foster education sector,” said Jumanne.

He applauded the Head of State for availing 100bn/- for the construction of 214 new secondary schools in all constituency and 30bn/- she availed to build girls’ secondary schools in 10 regions in Tanzania Mainland.

The Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Dr Leonard Akwilapo, confirmed that the President will be the guest of honor during the event.
