Africa-Press – Tanzania. RUKWA Regional Commissioner (RC) Joseph Mkirikiti has directed acting Regional Police Commander (RPC) Mashenene Mayila to arrest a petty trader identified as Chacha Nyangoso for allegedly chopping off the ears of his girlfriend, Doricas Richard (23) for jealousy.
Nyangoso, who owns butchery in Sumbawanga municipality, is alleged to have fled with the fresh ears he had chopped from his girlfriend who resides at Bible area here in the municipality. Mkirikiti issued the directive yesterday when addressing a rally at Nelson Mandela garden here in the municipality.
“Where is the RPC? …. I’m directing him to arrest Chacha wherever he is and face the full wrath of the laws…. This is not only unacceptable. What he did is inhumane and barbaric,” he said. Chacha must be arrested….. I have learned that it is not his first offense … He had done this kind of cruelty several times in the past without being apprehended … ensure no stone is left unturned until Chacha is arrested” reacted the RC.
Mkirikiti ordered the RPC and other relevant authorities to ensure Chacha’s butchery remains closed pending investigation into the incident. “ I’m instructing Sumbawanga District Commissioner (Sebastian Wryuba) who is district defense and security committee chairman to ensure Chacha is apprehended …
There are reports that he is briefly hiding here in Sumbawanga Town “ added the RC. Acting RPC, Mayila told this newspaper yesterday that the suspect was still on the run, emphasizing that law enforcers have already started carrying out a manhunt in search for him.
“I can assure members of the public that police officers have vowed to make sure Chacha is apprehended, we are carrying out a manhunt, searching for him across the region and on border posts, since our area borders several neighboring countries” added the RPC.
According to acting RPC, Chacha committed the crime on December 26(Boxing Day) this year at around 11:00 pm at Bible area here in the municipality.He said that the suspect fled shortly after committing the crime. Doricas, the victim, gave her account of the ordeal, saying they have been in an intimate relationship for three years, and that on the day of the incident her boyfriend visited her at her home place, demanding a reason for switching off her mobile phone.
“I told him that it is my habit to do, especially at night because I normally don’t want any sorts of disturbance when I’m asleep… Then he asked me to switch on the device and I did so and subsequently gave him the password “she added. She further narrated that suddenly her boyfriend turned violent and force her to bend forward.
“It was at that moment when he cut off my left ear with the sharp knife and did the same on the right ear, telling me that he did that so that no any man can either admire or marry me…,” she narrated. He threatened to stab me if I ever shouted … and then disappeared with my fresh ears…. I bled profusely ….I got treated.
I appeal to the authorities to ensure that Chacha is arrested to face the law,” she appealed. Isaya Anzuri, Doricas’s uncle, appealed to law enforcers to quickly arrest Chacha and bring him to justice. “The photo of my niece has gone viral to various social platforms where many have contributed their views condemning the act,” he said.
