Africa-Press – Tanzania. RUKWA Regional Commissioner (RC) Mr Joseph Mkirikiti led citizens to watch the much-publicised 56 – minute Royal Tour documentary film.

The documentary was officially premiered at regional level in Matai-Township in Kalambo District over the weekend, an event that was attended by several citizens, including religious leaders, government officials as well as businesspersons and some from the private sector.

Mr Mkirikiti insisted that there are equally several tourist attractions in the area that can contribute to the growth of Rukwa’s GDP.

“Regarding infrastructure, the region is endowed with appropriate roads at tarmac levels, where investors do not need to worry in transporting raw materials and goods” insisted the RC

The Tanzania Royal Tour was filmed between August and September last year and was launched in New York, US in April. The film then was screened in Los Angeles in the same month.

It first premiered in the country late April in Arusha and then in Zanzibar and Dar es Salaam in early May before sent to Dodoma.

Mr Mkirikiti emphasised that the film comes as a big breakthrough in boosting the economy of the region and country at large.

Rukwa has several unique tourist attractions, among them Kalambo Water Falls the single drop water fall stands tall as 221m and is second to the Tugela Falls in South Africa but currently lack sufficient accommodation.

Other attractions on the list are Old Bismarck Fort along the shores of Lake Tanganyika in Kasanga ward, a hot springs at Kazombwe village, Lake Rukwa scenery from Ufipa escarpment, Lake Tanganyika beach, Red Columbus at Mbizi forest, Uwanda and Lwafi game reserves, Lake Kwela and Tembwa Falls.

Equally, Mr Mkirikiti advised relevant authorities in the region to promote and market the tourist attraction found in the area in efforts to attract more tourists.

“If properly promoted could be an extra income earner in the region, receiving many tourists the region stands a wider chance in hiking revenues accrued from tourism,” added the RC.

Businesspersons who spoke to the reporters during separate interviews paid tribute to President Samia Suluhu Hassan for coming up with a beneficial idea which will help to transform their lives through tapping several opportunities that will come out of the Tanzania Royal Tour.

The Kalambo District Commissioner, Ms Tank Mwela, welcomed those who wish to invest in the hotels and hospitality industry in the area.

“There is not even a single hotel that has met qualifications of a three star hotel in Kalambo” she said.
