Africa-Press – Tanzania. DODOMA residents have showered praises over speedy implementation of the ring road construction project, looking forward to expanded economic activities once operational.

They expressed their feelings when Minister for Works and Transport, Prof Makame Mbarawa, toured the project to see its progress.

One of the residents, Mr Kassian Hamad, stressed that once is complete, the road will contribute to individual economic growth as well as reducing traffic jams.

“We are commending President Samia Suluhu Hassan for continuing to implement projects that were initiated during the fifth-phase government, including this ring road,” he said.

Earlier, Minister Mbarawa expressed his satisfaction over the progress of construction, whose total length is 112.3 kilometres.

According to him, the road has two sections, namely Nala-Veyula-Mtumba, whose length is 52.3 kilometres and the 60km Ihumwa- Matumbulu-Nala road.

“Make sure the road is complete within the set time frame and at an acceptable standard. Act tough upon whoever sabotages the project,” directed the minister.

He said that the government has already allocated funds for paying contractors.

Tanzania National Roads (TANROADS)’s Dodoma Regional Manager Leonard Chimagu assured close supervision of the equipment, adding that serious measures would be taken against any dishonest staff.

The Supervisor of the Nala-Veyula- Mtumba section, Mr John Koroso, assured of not only timely accomplishment of the road, but also the quality.

It was further noted that Dodoma ring road is set for completion by March of 2025.
