Africa-Press – Tanzania. PETRO fuel DC Caravans Cup resumes today at Gymkhana oval in Dar es Salaam, as cricket lovers will witness Novum Strikers locking horns with Alliance Caravans.

The two teams will be vying for the command of group B against its leaders Aruti Aces, who lead with two points after beating Black & Decker Upanga by 12 runs. In second place are Black & Decker Upanga, without a point and -0.6 net run rate.

In that encounter, Aces won the toss, opted to bat and registered 118 runs in 20 overs, a bar that the Upanga-based team failed to reach as they were all out after posting 106 runs.

Ally Mpeka of Aces emerged as the player of the match after hitting 12 runs from 14 balls while claiming two wickets. Besides Mpeka, Salum Jumbe and Jaffary Kanyita of Aces also had the best performance.

For instance, Jumbe had lodged 29 runs from 21 balls while Kanyita scored 22 runs from 29 balls. Despite losing the game, Black & Decker Upanga fielded players who had a remarkable performance.

Their top players included Ashish Kamania, Virendra Kamania and Prem Thakkar. Ashish Kamania scored 27 runs from 27 balls, Virendra Kamania ended his onslaught with 19 runs from 18 balls, while Thakkar registered 14 runs from 23 balls.

After today’s encounter, other Group B matches will take action at the same venue.
