Africa-Press – Tanzania. AFTER a successful pre-season spell in Egypt, Simba are expected back today, ready for the climax of the Simba Day at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam on Monday.
This was confirmed on Wednesday by the club’s Media and Communications Manager Ahmed Ally who said upon their arrival, they will be given a brief break before regrouping once again tomorrow.
“Simba family should know that their team has completed a fruitful camp in Egypt and players are now well sharpened to face any opponent.
“After landing, they will have a short break to visit their families after a long stay outside the country and on August 5th (tomorrow), they will reunite with other players who did not travel to Egypt as they were on national team duties,” he said.
Again, Ally disclosed that they are set to parade another newly-signed player who will join the camp immediately after being unveiled insisting that he is a complete package suitable to trade at the Msimbazi Street Reds.
Until now, Simba have not yet officially declared players who will be given the green light to leave the club and pursue their careers elsewhere.
While in Egypt, they played four friendly matches, winning two of them, drawing one and losing the other, but the Head Coach Zoran Manojlovic (pictured) has maintained that the games helped h i m a lot t o a s – sess h i s team well b e – f o r e the start of the busy campaign.
The Serbian will have his first taste of Tanzania football on August 13th when his side face Young Africans in a Community Shield match to signal the start of the 2022/23 Premier League season.
But prior to that, on Monday, a reshaped Simba will be in action at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium for a friendly match arranged to spice up Simba Day celebration in the match that will offer their fans a chance to see their new team.
Recently, the club’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Barbara Gonzalez pointed out that their targets to win back three domestic trophies they dropped last season remain unchanged.
She said that basing on the level of investment injected, there is no doubt that they will accomplish whatever they have planned to implement their objectives.
However, the Msimbazi street giants are also eyeing to do well in the CAF Champions League and have already set semifinals as their target next season.
