REGISTRAR WANTS POLITICAL PARTIES TO GO DIGITAL

AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE registrar of political parties has extended verification of political parties in the country to Zanzibar with a call on parties to adopt use of computers in record keeping.

“Keeping your records manually should change to computer. It is high time you turn to digital world for proper data storage and simplicity,” Mr Sisty Nyahoza deputy Registrar of political parties said after verification of ADA-TADEA party offices here.

He said during the ongoing verification exercise, they have identified that many political parties in the country still use old method of records keeping- manually, a risk to losing or misplacing some important documents.

Mr Nyahoza also visited to cross-check other political parties including Chama Cha Mapinduzi (CCM), and Civic United Front (CUF), sub-offices advising them to operate in modern way by using computers.

Registrar verifies address, location, members, sources of Fund and expenditure and leadership as par constitution. Provisionally, after the verification, the visited parties here should, expect clean certificate.

The ADA TADEA party National Vice- Chairperson Mr Juma Ali Khatib welcomed the verification and commended the Registrar for the exercise he described as important for the development of political parties.

“We are happy to have been checked. Almost all our records are genuine. We can operate with confidence as the country moves to the general elections later this year.”
