AfricaPress-Tanzania: TANZANIA Amateur Volleyball Association (TAVA) warmly received the powerful guidelines to players follow upon when staying at home to keep clear of coronavirus infection.
In his heartfelt message to volleyball family, Dr Amr Elwani the African Volleyball Confederation (CAVB) president, said health is more important than playing any sport.
In his message Dr Elwani said:” Healthy authorities include World Health Organisation (WHO) emphasis to stay at home, stay home means you don’t go out.
“Overall policy all over the World is first defense line which is stay at home; Do not go anyway except to the minimum of your family, I urge you to stay at home.”
Alfred Selengia, the secretary general of TAVA, confirmed his association has received the message: “CAVB president, Dr Elwani has great concerns not only in the development of volleyball and beach volleyball in Africa, but also the health and the well-being of the athletes.
“He and his team are friendlier and very supportive. It is through good cooperation that, I was encouraged and motivated to study effortlessly all coaching studies from level one to instructor courses,” he said.
Selengia added that CAVB and TAVA have had good cooperation for many years. Already we have been honoured to host three African Beach Volleyball events and materially supported the both events.
“This is indeed a great opportunity to the development of the sport in Tanzania, but the message we have received is most important to us and to our members for our safety.”
Elwani added to his message: “To my beloved big family, volleyball family from athletes, players, beach volleyball to indoors, coaches, referee’s, doctors who are taking good care to our players, national federations and members.
“Let players practice at home, our activities will come back soon. We have already faced a lot of troubles in the past, but we have to make sure everybody stays safe as health is the most important aspect.”
“My intention to speak to you over my heart concerning this disaster we are living in, the pandemic COVID-19. Coronavirus is invisible creation from God.
It asks us to go back to God’s instruction to love each other, help each other and cooperate with other human beings. He added that praying to God to keep all people, especially volleyball family all over the World to be safe.
The president also asked the family to be tough and follow each government’s instructions.
He said Africans are very lucky up to now because of our nature, weather, temperature and our history of vaccination increase our immunity and he believes that is what made the number of those affected very small.
He added they will continue to get in touch with all affiliated members through video conferences as most of CAVB events have been postponed until further notice.
“The most important events all over the world like Olympic Games have been postponed and CAVB also did so as it was instructed by International body (FIVB),” he added hopping this crisis will end soon with God’s help.
He said volleyball is part of family sport, because it needs each other ‘like the game is you need someone to have hands on the ball first it applies the same in life as we depend in each other’.
