Tanzania envisions 2026 Women African Finals

Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA is expected to host the Women African Cup of Nations (WAFCON 2026), Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) Wallace Karia revealed during the federation’s 17th annual general meeting here.

Karia said Tanzania will host the tournament and preparations are progressing well.

He said in preparing the competition, the government has allocated a budget to improve seven stadiums in the country.

He mentioned some of those stadiums are Sokoine Memorial (Mbeya), Sheikh Amri Abeid (Arusha), Mkwakwani (Tanga), Ally Hassan Mwinyi (Tabora), Jamhuri Stadium (Dodoma) and CCM Kirumba (Mwanza).

He also promised that in 2027, Tanzania will co-host the AFCON tournament for men in collaboration with Kenya and Uganda.

Karia has congratulated the government for all its support in football.

He also congratulated the Serengeti Girls for reaching the quarter final stage of the World Cup for girls under 17 in India.

“We have succeeded in implementing a very big plan and one of our strategies was to play in the World Cup finals for women and we have achieved that,” Karia said.

He said that TFF is in a plan to ensure that it implements good financial management and increases income in the country’s football.

He said that it has been five years now that TFF has been getting clean documents and they are planning to add more sponsors in the Premier League and the Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) competitions.

Karia said the TFF complexes located in Tanga and Kigamboni have been completed and they will officially start working in 2023. He said the project will help in increasing the federation’s income.

In another development the Chief Guest of the federation’s 17th general meeting, Mohamed Abdulazizi, who is also the Chairman of the TFF board of trustees, has asked the (TFF) to ensure that it distributes various football projects of the federation in different areas of the country.

“The projects run by TFF here in the country, I am asking you as much as you can, to spread them to more places and this will help a lot in promoting our football here in the country. I also commend TFF for the good management of projects and the value of money is visible,” Abdulazizi said.

He has also praised the Government for showing interest in supporting sports in this country. He has asked various stakeholders to ensure that they continue to support football in this country.

TFF general meeting member from Mbeya Region Mohamed Mashango said the TFF general meeting was good because they discussed various aspects of our football.
