Africa-Press – Tanzania. JOY engulfed the National Service’s 834 KJ Makutupora on Friday as 21 Members of Parliament and 18 employees of the National Assembly held celebrations for the passing out of their month-long recruit course, as the army called for other institutions especially in the public sector to bring their staff to attend a similar course aiming at inculcating patriotism.

“Patriotism is a major weapon when it comes to national security, and if all Tanzanians receive the National Service course I believe that we will eliminate some illegal acts including corruption and the country will equally realise its industrialisation agenda by 2025 as per President Samia Suluhu Hassan’s ambitious dream,” said Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF), Head of Public Service, Major General Paul Simuli.

Maj Gen Simuli who graced the event said the 39-member team had been trained in different aspects of the military with patriotism, being among the much emphasized issues.

“They are well trained in respect and love for their country, professionalism at their work places, cooperation, team work and perseverance, among others,” he noted.

At the event, the Clerk of the National Assembly, Nenelwa Mwihambi paid tribute to the National Service which she said was collaborating with her office for many years by training it’s staff on the crucial recruit course that had so far brought efficiency in the course of discharging their duties.

The 39 new trained MPs and Parliament Staff are part of the course dubbed ‘General Venance Mabeyo Special Operation’ and it featured several prominent members of Parliament, according to Colonel Erasmus Bwegoge who at the event represented the Chief of National Service (CNS), Major General Rajabu Mabele.

“I have reduced at least eight kilogrammes within one month, and I have been taught to be patriotic to my country….I can categorically state that when I get back to the august House I am totally a different person, said Ndanda MP, Cecil Mwambe.

His Kisesa counterpart, Luhaga Mpina, the former cabinet minister said that the training he received would totally change the way he was conducting his business in the House and his constituency.

“I urge my fellow lawmakers to come and attend this important course because my mindset has really been transformed,” he added.
