Africa-Press – Tanzania. AFTER claiming a slot to play in CAF Interclub games next season, Azam have embarked on squad rebuilding mechanisms and have completed the signing of two Ivorians plus a former Sevilla goalkeeping trainer.

The trio were paraded recently via the club’s official Instagram account as they seek to strengthen further the team to make it competitive in the upcoming season and be ready to vie for trophies.

The new injected blood are Tape Edinho and Zunon Kipre both from Ivory Coast who have been trusted to help in pushing the club further and be among the competitive ones in the approaching campaign.

Also, the Ice Cream makers have unveiled former Sevilla and Real Betis goalkeeping coach Dani Cadena who has been hired to assist in improving the goalkeeping section of the team whose competency has been low.

Despite finishing last season’s Premier League on third place, Azam are among the teams which conceded many goals (28) which practically means they were not competitive enough in defensive and goal-stopping sections.

In his remarks recently, Azam’s Information Officer Thabit Zakaria said their target is to achieve much in the upcoming season especially in CAF duels.

“After excelling to play in International games, we are now going to sit down and see which areas need improvement in the team so that when the contest begins, we should be in a better position to do well.

“We do not expect to make several changes in the current squad we have but rather just minor improvements so that we keep the team well balanced ready to face any opponent,” he said.

He further pointed out that so far, playing chemistry has started to be seen among players meaning that there is no need to make big transformation rather than just polishing it further.

Azam do enjoy massive investment in the club and have one of the best football academies which thrives to nurture young talented footballers and give them a platform to shine.
