Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE government has reiterated its determination to set up vocational training college in each region and district countrywide.

To make it into action, during this fiscal year the government has allocated 100bn/- to start construction project.

This amount is expected to construct Vocational Colleges in 62 districts that do not have such colleges as well as one regional college.

The statement was made by the Minister of Education, Science and Technology, Prof Adolf Mkenda while chairing a joint meeting between the management of the ministry and VETA which was held at the VETA hall in Dodoma, yesterday.

Minister Mkenda stated: “in this financial year, the government has allocated the funds to start construction of the ccolleges in 62 districts where no such colleges have been built.”

Minister Mkenda emphasized on the need for immediate commencement of the construction while observing all relevant procedures.

Speaking about the construction of university campuses in 14 regions through the HEET Project, Minister Mkenda asked the contractors in the ministry to ensure that they monitor and cooperate with the universities to know strategies set by the colleges regarding the construction so that the work is completed in time.

Likewise, he said the government’s aim is to ensure that every district has a VETA College so that young people graduating from primary schools and higher learning institutions could acquire certain skills to make them economically productive.
