Africa-Press – Tanzania. THE Dar es Salaam Regional Basketball League leaders JKT eye to extend their supremacy against ABC as the league continues to rage on at the Benjamin Mkapa Indoor court in Dar es Salaam today.

Haleluya Kavalambi, the DB technical and competitions director told the ‘Daily News’ in Dar es Salaam yesterday that 12 matches kicked off this weekend started with three matches on Friday, five in today’s battles, while four other matches will be on Sunday.

He said that in today’s fixture JKT will enter the stadium with a plan in their mind to extend their lead when they face one of their closest challengers, ABC.

JKT who played 8 games so far stay at the top of the summit with 15 points after one defeat.

They meet National Basketball League (NBL) champions ABC who are in third place with 13 points from seven matches.

But Pazi remained the only team that are yet to concede a game since the league started in late May this year, they are at second place.

Other Saturday battles will be between Mgulani JKT against the 2020 champions Kurasini Heat and Ukonga Warriors will lock horns with Mchenga, while the women’s fixture will see Kurasini Divas playing against Ukonga Queens as JKT Stars will face DB Lioness.

Police will challenge Oilers skills in Sunday’s game, Kurasini Heat will return to court to face Chui as Mchenga will face Vijana and Savio will play against Ukonga Warriors.

Vijana Basketball Queens lead the women’s table with 6 points after winning all their three matches, followed by JKT Stars at second with 5 points, Jeshi Stars who also played 3 matches are placed third with 5 points and DB Lionesses are fourth with 4 points.

Kavalambi stressed that so far all is well for the 15 teams in the men’s category and seven teams in the women’s league.

He said that the league has grown up tremendously compared to last year.

Kavalambi said: “The level of competition is very high, especially for the teams that previously looked like minnows.

Meanwhile Bullets Queens and Flames Queens are set to face each other in the Tulia Mbeya Women’s Regional league final at Youth Centre venue today.
