Africa-Press – Tanzania. MINISTER for Foreign Affairs and East African Cooperation, Ambassador Mahmoud Thabit Kombo has called on ministry staff to serve with dedication and integrity for the greater benefit of the nation.
Speaking over the weekend during the ministry’s Workers’ Council in Dar es Salaam, Amb Kombo stressed the importance of commitment to duty and placing national interests above all else.
“When an employee performs their duties diligently, good opportunities follow naturally. When national interests are prioritised, blessings increase and personal gains often surpass expectations,” he said.
Amb Kombo encouraged staff to maintain transparency in order to receive the necessary support to overcome challenges, which he noted would enhance their effectiveness and knowledge.
He also noted that all ministries across the country are working closely with the ministry to ensure their operations align with national priorities.
He urged staff to be diligent and results-oriented in their roles.
The minister further advised that council meetings be utilised to address employee welfare, clarify roles, and explore strategies for continuous improvement, while ensuring expenditures remain within the ministry’s budget.
“Use this platform to reflect on the activities you’ve implemented, the challenges you face and ways to take ownership in fulfilling the ministry’s 2025/26 plans and budget,” he said.
Amb Kombo also reminded staff to participate in the upcoming launch of the new Foreign Policy, scheduled for May 19th this year. He noted that the policy is centred on advancing national interests and strengthening economic diplomacy.
Deputy Minister in the docket Mr Cosato Chumi praised the ministry’s strong internal cooperation and credited its efficiency to effective leadership.
“The unity within the ministry allows us to function so efficiently. Above all, having a leader who is focused on finding solutions is a major reason for our success,” said Mr Chumi.
He added that ensuring employees’ peace of mind is key to achieving productivity and efficiency in the workplace.
Echoing this sentiment, the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Ambassador Stephen Mbundi said efforts have been made to create a supportive and holistic working environment.
“Providing a conducive work environment goes beyond tools and infrastructure, it means considering the complete welfare of our staff,” said Amb Mbundi.
He encouraged employees to take full advantage of both local and international training opportunities to better serve the nation.
