PM hails Yanga’s brilliance

Africa-Press – Tanzania. PRIME Minister Kassim Majaliwa has hailed Young Africans for clinching NBC Premier League title this season.

Yanga claimed their 28th Premier league title with unbeaten run following a 1-0 win over Mtibwa Sugar on Wednesday. Dennis Nkane’s 81st minute goal gave Yanga the maximum points, thus finishing the league with 74 points.

Majaliwa, one of the key stakeholders of Tanzanian football, commended Yanga while winding up 13th Parliamentary session yesterday wishing the Jangwani Street giants good participation in the CAF Inter- club competition next season where alongside the second-placed Simba, will represent the country in CAF Champions League.

“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Yanga for being the country’s champions this season. They deserved it, but I want them to be good envoys in international competitions next season just as Simba did,” said the PM.

Meanwhile, the former Yanga midfielder Abdi Kassim has tipped his former team to improve their performance in the inter clubs competition this season.

Kassim, the left-footed international, said he believes Yanga have built a strong team capable of shining in the international competitions sanctioned by the Confederation of African Football (CAF).

“They have signed quality players this season and with this quality and may be a few additions in every department they can reach far in international competition next season,” said the team’s former captain.

Kassim also hailed the team after they were crowned the league’s championship saying it never came by chance but with unity from the club’s administration, technical bench and players.

“Whenever there is success anywhere then you must know there is strong bond in every department and that is what you can say about how Yanga won the league title this season. There is clearly strong unity from the club’s administration, technical bench and players,” said Kassim.

Kassim also commended the team’s youthful midfielder Feisal Salum for his remarkable contribution in making his team win the championship and he said if he is asked to name the season’s best player he will not hesitate to mention the attacking midfielder for the award.

“To me the team and season best player award will go to Feisal Salum. He was instrumental in many crucial games the team has played this season. Though, I don’t mean Fiston Mayele is not a good player. He is a good finisher but the best player’s award can go to Feisal,” he said.
