Africa-Press – Tanzania. LAWMAKER for Sumbawanga Urban, Rukwa Region, Aesh Hilal, on tuesday appealed on citizens in Sumbawanga and all Tanzanians to shy away from individuals who are spreading myths and misleading information about the forthcoming National Population and Housing Census slated for next week.

The lawmaker made the remarks on tuesday at separate occasions when he was addressing residents during the meeting held at Mlanda A and B villages in Milanzi ward and Isesa village in Molo ward.

“I’m appealing to citizens regardless their age and social status in Sumbawanga to shy away from such peddlers, instead, they should fully participate in the much-awaited exercise,” emphasized Mr Hilal.

He further says that “The exercise will greatly help the government to prepare its development plan so that every citizen is brought on board

“It will also assist the government in improving people’s health welfare” he noted

He appealed on religious, traditional leaders, development stakeholders and media to continue raising awareness of the importance of the much awaited exercises.

Next year census will be the country sixth population survey to be carried out after the Union of Tanganyika and Zanzibar in 1964.

The past ones took place in 1967,1978,1988,2002 and 2012.

The 2012 population census showed population reached 43.6 million in Tanzania mainland and 1.3 million in Tanzania Zanzibar.
