Africa-Press – Tanzania. YOUNG Africans have cherished the 16 Premier League goals scored by striker Fiston Mayele saying they have helped them a lot to win the season’s championship.

Mayele, the team’s lethal striker, narrowly missed out an opportunity to claim a golden boot award which has gone to Geita Gold’s goal scoring machine George Mpole who netted 17 goals.

Mpole has therefore surpassed the last season’s record of 16 goals which was stamped by Simba skipper John Bocco meaning that the golden boot has for the second successive season been won by a domestic player.

However, giving his reaction after Mayele’s miss of the top scorers’ prize, the club’s Information Officer Hassan Bumbuli said they are pleased with the 16 goals he scored because they have helped them to win 28th league title.

“We need to thank Mayele a lot because his 16 goals have made us champions.

“Each Yanga fan should salute Mayele and all other players for their determination to win the league title which was not an easy task but due to hardwork and unity, we are all thrilled with the achievement made,” he said.

Concerning the signing of ASEC Mimosas midfielder Stephane Aziz Ki, Bumbuli replied that he is 100 per cent certain that the Burkinabe will be parading at the Jangwani street side next season.

“For him, it is just a matter of time before landing into the country. He has just completed their domestic league as such, after sometime of resting, we expect him to begin the trip of joining his colleagues before pre-season,” he narrated.

Again, the Information Officer revealed that so far, they have officially unveiled one foreign based player Lazarous Kambole as they await to introduce other three players who will be landing into the country soon.

Yanga finished last season on front pedal as they engaged 30 Premier League matches without suffering a loss a feat which is invincible to them hence deserve to be congratulated.

They scored a total of 49 goals, recorded eight draws, conceded eight goals and won 22 matches which is a reputable record and if they will be able to maintain the status next season remain a debatable topic.

Without doubt, it was an enjoyable season for them especially after being down for four consecutive campaigns and the signing of high profile players has surely helped them to make it such big.
