Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DAR ES SALAAM:<\/b> THE National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) and management of Upanga-based Regency Medical Centre (RMC) in Dar es Salaam on Sunday held meeting in which they resolved that NHIF members would continue getting services, while other issues are being addressed.<\/p>\n

The NHIF delegation was led by Director General Bernard Konga who arrived at the hospital to also inspect how services for NHIF members were progressing after the temporary suspension of services over unresolved contractual matters with the Fund.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the Regency Hospital, Mr Konga apologised to NHIF members for the inconveniences they experienced, but assured them that they have already spoken to the institution\u2019s management, adding that the services will continue as usual.<\/p>\n

\u201cI promise the members of NHIF that after our talks with Regency there will be no more problems, you will continue to be served as previously,\u201d said Konga.<\/p>\n

After the talks, RMC management through its Chief Executive Officer, Lalit Kanabar told NHIF DG about their willingness to continue providing services to NHIF members.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have met with the management of NHIF, we have agreed that services should continue while other matters are still being discussed and services for NHIF members will continue as usual,\u201d said Kanabar.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe services for NHIF members resumed in Regency since March 1, and patients will continue getting services. If there are any challenges, we will continue to solve them internally,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter conversation with NHIF and listening carefully to the speech of the minister for health which clearly showed the intention for open discussion for affordable prices we have decided to continue treating NHIF beneficiaries,\u201d said the statement from hospital\u2019s Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

This newspaper visited Regency Hospital on Saturday and observed NHIF members continuing getting services at the hospital as usual. One of the patients at the hospital, Faraja John, thanked the NHIF for visiting the Regency hospital to see how services are provided.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe were shocked to hear that the services will be suspended but after seeing the NHIF coming here and assure us that the services are available, we feel comforted that now we will get services like it was before,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He said NHIF patients who came for treatment at Regency Hospital have been received as usual even though there was an announcement to reject them in various media.<\/p>\n
