Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DODOMA: <\/b>SPECIAL Seats legislator, Fatma Tawfiq has said that women in Dodoma Region have a debt to President Samia Suluhu Hassan in next year\u2019s General Election due to the great job she is doing in ensuring that they fully partake in inclusive economy.<\/p>\n

She said this here during the launch of the third phase of a forum for women empowerment in Dodoma Region, where she noted that the establishment of similar platforms was launched by Dr Samia in 2016 when she was the Vice-President.<\/p>\n

According to her, the forum has since then been a great catalyst in empowering women economically as well as coordinating them with different opportunities to improve their individual economies.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Head of State owes us her votes in the next General Election; therefore, we need to vote for her overwhelmingly because of what she has always been doing for us,\u2019\u2019 noted the Special Seats lawmaker representing Dodoma Region.<\/p>\n

Ms Tawfiq also noted that the sixth phase government had also put up suitable and friendly infrastructures in schools, hospitals and other social services, something which makes women and their children to live a comfortable life.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe directive to have forums for women empowerment countrywide was issued on June 8th, 2016 by Dr Samia when she was serving the nation as Vice-President,\u2019\u2019 added the MP.<\/p>\n

Women empowerment agenda, according to her, was among the 17 Millennium Development Goals of 2000, whereas goal number 3 seek to empower women and promote gender equality.<\/p>\n

Also, the government under President Samia has consistently been reiterating that it is committed to implement regional and international commitments to ensure achievement of gender equality and women empowerment.<\/p>\n

Currently, Tanzania is implementing Generation Equality Forum (GEF) under 2nd action coalition on Economic Justice and Rights, which was adopted in 2021.<\/p>\n

Generation Equality is the world\u2019s leading initiative convened by UN Women to accelerate investment and implementation on gender equality.<\/p>\n

GEF brings together organisations from every part of society to catalyse progress, advocate for change and take bold actions together.<\/p>\n

Generation Equality aims to ensure that the bold ambitions of the 1995 Beijing Platform for Action on women\u2019s rights are finally implemented, and that the Sustainable Development Goals are achieved.<\/p>\n

At the forum in Dodoma, the Special Seats legislator noted that the major aim of convening women together was to discuss opportunities and challenges as well as how to intensify women participation in business and other economic activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWomen have for many years been left behind in economic activities, that is why our government has been fighting tooth and nail to ensure that women own their own economies.<\/p>\n
