Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DAR ES SALAAM:<\/b> THE eagerly awaited Bunge Marathon organised by the National Assembly which will bring together 393 Members of Parliaments and other stakeholders is set to collect over 4.0bn\/- to be used for construction of a special boys\u2019 school.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Speaker, Mussa Azan said in Dar es Salaam yesterday that the National Assembly has decided to support President Samia Suluhu Hassan\u2019s efforts to promote sports and education in the country.<\/p>\n

He disclosed that the special secondary for the Advanced level will be constructed with the standards set by the government and will also have a sports academy that will groom various sports talents.<\/p>\n

According to the Deputy Speaker, the place or region in which the school will be built will be unveiled later, and some stakeholders have already pledged their support for the construction of the school.<\/p>\n

This will be the second special school to be built by the efforts of the National Assembly through the \u2018Bunge marathon\u2019, their first effort saw a special school for girls built in Dodoma region was handed over to the government for normal operations.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Speaker said the Bunge Marathon which is expected to attract 5,000 runners from in and outside the country will involve three events and the main event being the 21 km (Half Marathon) will be staged next month in the capital city, Dodoma.<\/p>\n

Other events that will be staged on Saturday, April 13 will be a 10 km race and 5 km fun run which will also see the winners rewarded with cash prizes and medals.<\/p>\n

Registration for the race is 40,000\/- per person whereby after registering the person will be handed over a running kit that comprises a T-shirt, Bib, and wristband registration can made through the National Assembly website, he said.<\/p>\n

Winners of the Half Marathon race will bag 5.0m\/- while the first and second runners-up will collect 3m\/- and 1.5m\/- for men\u2019s and women\u2019s categories respectively plus gold, silver, and bronze medals while fourth to ten placed will earn 200,000\/- each.<\/p>\n

In the 10 km race the winner will take home two million shillings first and second runners-up will earn 1.5m\/- and 1m\/- respectively while the fourth to 10th winners get 100,000\/- each.<\/p>\n

The prize for the first winners of the 5km run will be 1.5m\/- each while the second winner will have 1m\/- and the third 500,000\/- and the fourth to 10 placed will get 50,000\/- each.<\/p>\n
