Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>ZANZIBAR:<\/b> THE Zanzibar Second Vice President Hemed Suleiman Abdullah has commended NMB Bank for being instrumental in supporting Zanzibar\u2019s development agenda. Mr Abdullah was speaking during an Iftar hosted by NMB in the Isles over the weekend.<\/p>\n

He noted that the integration of the bank\u2019s core banking system with that of the Zanzibar government has tremendously helped to increase the government\u2019s revenue collections in recent years.<\/p>\n

\u201cI assure you that we will continue to strengthen our systems through NMB because I understand that you have done a lot of work for the Zanzibar government,\u201d he said adding, \u201cI must admit that, the increase in revenue collections is one of the success stories for NMB\u2019s contribution,\u201d He hailed NMB Bank for maintaining a positive culture of organising Iftar events for its customers that aligns with its \u2018close to you\u2019 philosophy.<\/p>\n

Mr Abdullah during the event reiterated his government\u2019s commitment to continue working closely with the bank which has invested heavily in technology to provide seamless banking services.<\/p>\n

NMB Bank hosted two separate Iftar dinner events for the Muslim community in Unguja and Pemba as part of the bank\u2019s tradition to honour and celebrate the holy month of Ramadan.<\/p>\n

The events brought together over 1,000 stakeholders in Zanzibar and Pemba including the bank\u2019s customers who are observing the holy month of Ramadan, leaders of the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar (SMZ), orphaned and abandoned children among others.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the NMB Bank Chief Executive Officer, Ms Ruth Zaipuna said her bank embarked on its long-time tradition of organising Iftar events as a sign of gratitude for its customers\u2019 continued trust as the bank of your choice.<\/p>\n

\u201cOrganising Iftar events is our long-time tradition and aligns with our close to you philosophy. Such gestures bring us closer. We are glad to organise this Iftar event for our Muslim community in Zanzibar,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

During the event, she urged orphaned and abandoned children to continue to grow in faith and increase their efforts in everything they do in life, especially in their studies.<\/p>\n

On his part the NMB Bank\u2019s Senior Manager for Personal Banking, Mr Ally Ngingite while speaking during the Zanzibar Iftar event reaffirmed his bank\u2019s commitment to continue with its long-term culture of organising such events for the Muslim community in Pemba as such events help build mutual bonds with its clients.<\/p>\n
