{"id":107765,"date":"2024-03-29T14:41:09","date_gmt":"2024-03-29T14:41:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/tanzania\/all-news\/unicef-expert-touts-digital-tech-use-in-healthcare"},"modified":"2024-03-29T15:52:45","modified_gmt":"2024-03-29T15:52:45","slug":"unicef-expert-touts-digital-tech-use-in-healthcare","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/tanzania\/all-news\/unicef-expert-touts-digital-tech-use-in-healthcare","title":{"rendered":"UNICEF expert touts digital tech use in healthcare"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>HEALTH experts and stakeholders called on the need for the Ministry of Health to embrace the use of digital technology in scaling up electronic medical records (EMR).<\/p>\n<p>The proposed cloud-connected system, according to them, will help to revolutionise the country\u2019s healthcare delivery, pushing for Universal Health Coverage (UHC).<\/p>\n<p>Presenting a key topic entitled \u2018 Unveiling the Power of Digital Health\u2019 during the country\u2019s maiden International Primary Health Care Conference (IPHC) on Wednesday, the Chief of Health at United Nations International Children\u2019s Fund (UNICEF), Wendy Erasmus, said digital technology was a vital cog to help to propel to better health care services, especially at primary level.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor instance, in terms of children\u2019s health care use of digital health systems, including electronic medical records, is vital to improving the subsector\u2019s performance to the tune of much-needed zero done,\u201d she observed.<\/p>\n<p>The health experts added that the adoption of digital health was of paramount importance in attaining traceability and quick response, as well as in providing timely solutions to varied cropping up emergency cases in the primary healthcare (PHC) sector.<\/p>\n<p>The Director of Information Technology (ICT) at the President\u2019s Office (Regional Administration and Local Government), Erick Kitali, said the government was however starting to take some useful initiatives to support digital transformation in the health sector.<\/p>\n<p>He said the helpful initiatives were being executed from the levels of leadership and management at the primary healthcare centres.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe goal, among others, is to ensure the country\u2019s health sector sails in the same boat with the ongoing rapid development in technology,\u201d he informed.<\/p>\n<p>He said there was a need for stakeholders to support the further conduction of key training programmes meant to impart health professionals with practical knowledge of digital technology in the health sector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/tanzania\">Tanzania<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Tanzania.
