Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DAR ES SALAAM:<\/b> AS Tanzania aims to increase the number of tourists to five million by 2025, travel journalists in the United Kingdom (UK) have been argued to promote the lesser-known country\u2019s tourism destinations in the Britain market.<\/p>\n

The tourism attractions and destinations include Ruaha, Katavi, Nyerere and Mahale national parks.<\/p>\n

The Tanzania High Commissioner to the UK, Mbelwa Kariuki made the remarks during his meeting with travel journalists from the UK held on Thursday at the embassy in London.<\/p>\n

\u201cI hope that will inspire you to write about our beautiful destinations. As a representative of Tanzania in the UK, I assure you that now more than ever before Tanzania is in great shape and fully prepared to receive international visitors, especially from the UK,\u201d said the diplomat.<\/p>\n

Mr Kairuki highlighted various measures and improvements made by the Tanzanian government in preparations to receive and handle a large number of tourists from around the world particularly the UK.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that, one of these improvements includes infrastructure upgrades such as road. Additionally, there has been a simplification of visa application processes, and the quality and quantity of internationally standard accommodation are continuously increasing.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he noted that the government is working tirelessly to increase the number of flights directly from the UK to the beautiful destinations in Tanzania.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are hopeful that probably by end of this year (2024) we will have direct flights from London to Tanzania, but also the quality and quantity of international standard accommodation continues to increase,\u201d noted Mr Kairuki.<\/p>\n

According to the 2023 National Bureau of Statistic (NBS) report on Tourist arrivals, the number of foreign tourists who entered the country from January to August 2023 increased to 1,131,286 compared to 900,182 entered the country during the corresponding period in 2022 an increase of 231,104 visitors, equivalent to 25.7 per cent.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, the dip to the UK welcomed the tourist journalists to visits in beautiful destinations including the lesser knows and write more about the attractions found in Tanzania mainland and Zanzibar for unforgettable experience to enhance their writings and documentations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are looking forward to welcoming you to the unforgettable Tanzania, and Zanzibar. The home of idyllic beaches, fantastic coral leafs, an intriguing stone town and hospitable inhabitants, rich and diverse culture that will surely amaze you\u201d noted Mr Kairuki.<\/p>\n

Moreover, Ambassador Kairuki told the Journalist to give feedbacks and their comments to the tourism related matters on the areas to improve and strengthen the sector.<\/p>\n

According to the 2023 NBS statistics report on tourist arrivals to Tanzania, it was recorded that from the period of January to August 2023 a total of 51,505 tourists from the UK visited Tanzania.<\/p>\n

This makes the UK to be among top five countries with a significant number of tourists visited in Tanzania whereas the United States recorded the largest number of visitors, with a total of 84,541 tourists.<\/p>\n

Other countries with a significant number of tourists were France 72,009, Germany 57,798 and Italy 51,056.<\/p>\n
