Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DODOMA:<\/b> TANZANIA and Denmark have committed to collaborate in promoting the use of clean cooking energy to combat the effects of climate change.<\/p>\n

This was revealed recently in Dodoma by the Minister of State in the Vice-President\u2019s Office (Union and Environment), Dr Selemani Jafo, during his meeting with the Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy of Denmark, Mr Dan J\u00f8rgensen.<\/p>\n

In light of their discussions, the leaders deliberated on the collaboration between the two countries on climate change and environmental issues in general.<\/p>\n

Dr Jafo informed the Danish minister about the Tanzanian government\u2019s commitment to promoting access to clean cooking energy as a means of addressing the challenge of deforestation and ensuring sustainable environmental conservation.<\/p>\n

He pledged to continue the existing cooperation between the Tanzanian and Danish governments, stating that it would yield success in the implementation of environmental projects.<\/p>\n

Dr Jafo also explained to Mr J\u00f8rgensen how the government of Tanzania, through the Vice-President\u2019s Office, is addressing the environmental impacts, particularly climate change, through various strategies.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, he added that through the visit of the Danish leader, various environmental stakeholders in Tanzania would learn about several issues related to climate change and the environment in general.<\/p>\n

He urged Tanzanians to take advantage of the opportunities arising from the economic diplomacy promoted by President Samia Suluhu Hassan, during her visits to various countries.<\/p>\n

On his part, Minister J\u00f8rgensen stated that it is now time to maintain strong relations between the two countries to combat climate change and environmental challenges facing the world.<\/p>\n

He emphasised that climate change has significant impacts on various countries worldwide, including Tanzania, and affects economic activities, particularly agriculture.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he said it was essential to join forces to address these challenges.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by the Director of Environment, Ms Kemilembe Mutasa, the Director of Policy and Planning, Mr Ignas Chuwa, and the Assistant Director of Environment, Dr Paul Deogratius Paul (from the Vice-President\u2019s Office).<\/p>\n
