Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>ZANZIBAR:<\/b> THE Tanzania Commercial Bank (TCB) has expressed its intention to open more branches, ATMs, and Islamic Banking to attract new customers.<\/p>\n

The Chief Operating Officer of the Bank, Mr Jema Msuya, stated on behalf of the TCB CEO that among the bank\u2019s future plans to expand its business is reaching as many citizens as possible and having more bank agents.<\/p>\n

\u201cCurrently, we have about 2,000 agents across the country, but we need more to reduce inconveniences for our customers in accessing financial services,\u201d he said, during an Iftar that the bank had hosted for the needy in Zanzibar.<\/p>\n

He mentioned that TCB remains committed to serving the public by providing access to loans to start businesses and entrepreneurial activities.<\/p>\n

Besides banking services, TCB also collaborates with the community and the government to improve essential services, including health and education.<\/p>\n

Msuya stated that TCB has made significant progress in providing digital services, encouraging the community to take advantage of the opportunity by applying for loans for various needs such as studies, business, construction, and other productive purchases in the islands.<\/p>\n

The Acting CEO mentioned that the process of opening the window for Islamic services has been considered, and preparations are underway to open in Unguja and Pemba.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have started preparations to implement the plan to introduce banking services according to Islamic Sharia. Our goal is to have it ready by the end of this year (2024),\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He also noted that within the next two years, TCB expects to open another branch in Zanzibar to enhance services provided by agents in areas outside the city, reducing congestion at the current branch located in Mchangani Unguja.<\/p>\n

According to Mr Msuya, the Revolutionary Government of Zanzibar also has shares in the bank and has been providing great cooperation to strengthen it.<\/p>\n

Earlier, the Regional Commissioner (RC) for Unguja Urban-West Region, Mr Idris Kitwana Mustafa, who was the official guest at the Iftar, thanked TCB for engaging with students and young people with disabilities.<\/p>\n

During the Iftar, TCB officers also distributed gifts to various children who were invited as the RC commended the Bank for supporting them, including the poor and orphans.<\/p>\n

Kitwana advised that the engagement with children and customers should be sustainable to develop CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) by sharing the profit obtained from citizens\u2019 transactions in banking institutions.<\/p>\n

He also promised that the Zanzibar government under President Dr Hussein Mwinyi will continue to cooperate with TCB as their presence in the country increases the circulation of money and provides job opportunities.<\/p>\n
