Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>ARUSHA:<\/b> BARRICK Gold Corporation emphasizes the significance of employees\u2019 involvement in implementing health and safety policies in the workplace.<\/p>\n

Barrick\u2019s Safety Coordinator, Hassan Kallegeya, emphasized recently in Arusha that mines pose inherent hazards to workers, arguing that prioritising robust safety measures and control mechanisms is imperative to ensure the well-being of the workforce.<\/p>\n

\u201cInvolving our employees in the implementation of health and safety policies is among our top priorities,\u201d he affirmed during the Occupational Safety and Health Authority (OSHA) exhibitions held in Arusha, commemorating World Health and Safety at Work Day.<\/p>\n

Barrick Gold, represented by its mining subsidiaries Bulyanhulu, North Mara, and Buzwagi, participated in the OSHA exhibitions to educate and raise awareness about its adherence to health and workplace safety standards across all mining operations.<\/p>\n

During the exhibitions, Barrick Gold\u2019s health and safety experts showcased modern technology security equipment and discussed measures to control various workplace hazards, including fire incidents.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur \u2018Journey to Zero\u2019 campaign aims to ensure the health and safety of all mining employees and the surrounding communities,\u201d Mr Kallegeya stated.<\/p>\n

He explained that the campaign, developed collaboratively by regional safety teams, sets progressive milestones and focal areas for action to mitigate risks and manage contractor behaviours.<\/p>\n

Last year, Barrick Gold\u2019s mining companies received six OSHA awards and were named the overall winner for health and workplace safety.<\/p>\n

In addition to the exhibitions, Barrick Gold participated in treeplanting initiatives in various locations to promote environmental conservation, aligning with this year\u2019s OSHA theme of addressing climate change challenges through environmental preservation.<\/p>\n
