Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DODOMA: <\/b>THE government has expressed its commitment in resolving land disputes in Mwanza region to enable residents to continue with production activities without problems.<\/p>\n

Deputy Minister for Transport David Kihenzile told the Members of Parliament on Friday that the government is doing everything in its capacity to resolve land related conflicts in the region.<\/p>\n

He was responding to Ilemela Member of Parliament Angeline Mabula (CCM) questions who wanted to know when the dispute between the citizens of Mwanza Airport and the Airport Authority in Mwanza will be resolved.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister said the government is taking reasonable measures to ensure the problem is solved as soon as possible to allow every part to continue with its activities.<\/p>\n

The deputy minister said the procedures for land acquisition are continuing by doing valuation of citizens\u2019 assets, saying once the valuation is completed, other procedures will continue according to the country\u2019s law.<\/p>\n

In another development, the deputy minister said the government through the Tanzania Railway Corporation (TRC) is continuing with plans to repair and upgrade the central railway line infrastructure.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Parliament was told that the government recognizes the existence of a meteorite that fell in Ivuna Village, Songwe Region in 1938 with a volume of 0.0077 tons, equal to 0.0044 percent.<\/p>\n

Earlier, Momba MP, Condester Sichalwe (CCM) wanted to know when Ivuna Meteorite will be returned to the country and used as a tourist attraction.<\/p>\n

The Deputy Minister for Natural Resources and Tourism, Dunstan Kihenzile said that currently the Ivuna Meteorite is kept at the Natural History Museum in London, England.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ministry is aware of the importance of the antiquities taken from the country before and after independence for various reasons, including the Ivuna Meteorite. The government has formed a special national committee that coordinates the best way to return or benefit from the antiquities outside the country,\u201d said the deputy minister.<\/p>\n
