Africa-Press – Tanzania. <\/strong><\/span>DODOMA: <\/b>THE ruling CCM party\u2019s Vice-Chairman (Mainland) Mr Abulrahman Kinana on Sunday slammed divisive politics while urging all political parties\u2019 leaders to come with solutions to citizens\u2019 problems and lead them to prosperity.<\/p>\n

Mr Kinana made the statement at the party meeting in Dodoma, which involved the region\u2019s party members and citizens, where he demanded all citizens to ignore divisive politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are ready to be criticised but not ready to see divisive politics fuelling misunderstanding in the public and finally deterioration of the historic national unity. Opposition parties\u2019 leaders and citizens at large should bring sound arguments which can contribute to the country\u2019s transformation,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

He noted that there is ongoing divisive politics led by opposition CHADEMA party with intent of creating misunderstanding and disunity among the citizens, particularly based on their regional location or Tanzania Mainland or Zanzibar.<\/p>\n

Mr Kinana said the union which was formed in April 26, 1964 by the country founding fathers Mwalimu Julius Nyerere as the Union\u2019s first president and Sheikh Abeid Karume being the Zanzibar first president was built on unwavering values of unity, solidarity and mutual understanding between two countries.<\/p>\n

In that regard, he pointed out that as the country marked its 60th Union anniversary in April this year, nobody should be allowed to destroy the Union using the hate speeches under the umbrella of the opposition party.<\/p>\n

Towards addressing the country\u2019s pressing problems, he urged the opposition parties including CHADEMA to identify implementable solutions rather than citing problems alone, a situation which signals lack of creativity.<\/p>\n

He said the ruling CCM party for its part under President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan was doing what it takes to address the problems, noting that the party\u2019s Election Manifesto of 2020\/2025 is centred on improving the citizens\u2019 livelihoods through, among others, improving social infrastructures including roads, hospital, electricity and water services.<\/p>\n

In a related development, Mr Kinana condemned opposition political parties\u2019 leaders with ill intent of pointing fingers at President Samia, underplaying the fact that she ascended to power constitutionally from being vicepresident to the Head of the State after the passing on of the President Dr John Magufuli in 2021.<\/p>\n

Equally, Mr Kinana urged CCM members and citizens at large to participate effectively in the coming Local Election this year and General Election next year as the government has created fair political atmosphere for all parties to sell their policies for development.<\/p>\n

He said in the upcoming elections the CCM will adhere to the country\u2019s electoral laws in order to ensure that the citizens\u2019 choices and expectations are respected. Highlighting the current democratic political progress in the country, he reminded that last year (2023) the government lifted ban on political rallies and some media outlets, which were banned in efforts of ensuring that all political parties and citizens enjoy freedom of expression.<\/p>\n

Additionally, Mr Kinana said in this year President Samia approved the three electoral bills namely the National Electoral Commission Bill 2023, Presidential, Parliamentary and Local Government Election Bill 2023 and Political Parties Affairs (Amendment) Bills 2023 into laws in order to strengthen free and fair election observance in the country.<\/p>\n
